We do look at everything that comes through to our inbox, but as a small team, we’re not able to reply to every submission. If we feel your work might be a good fit, we’ll be in touch — usually within 3–4 weeks.

Illustrators

Please include:

Authors

We welcome text submissions from both debut and published authors. As an illustration-led agency, we’re primarily interested in projects where artwork plays a central role. Currently, we’re looking for submissions in the categories listed below.

Graphic Novels (kids, teens, adults)
Please include:

  • A cover letter
  • A synopsis
  • Sample pages
  • 2–3 finished artworks

Picture Books
Please include:

  • A cover letter
  • 2–3 sample texts (they don’t need to be part of a series)
  • If you’re an author-illustrator, include sample artwork as well

Junior Fiction (ages 5–9)
Please include:

  • A cover letter
  • A synopsis
  • The first three chapters
  • If you’re an author-illustrator, include sample artwork as well

Children’s & YA Illustrated Non-Fiction
Please include:

  • A cover letter
  • A synopsis
  • A sample chapter
  • 1–2 pieces of sample artwork
  • Include a brief note about your expertise on the subject or why you’re well-suited to tell this story

Submission Guide

Please email your submission to submissions@gildlings.com.

  • Attach your manuscript or sample pages as a Word (.doc/.docx),
    PDF, or RTF file
  • Include your cover letter in the body of the email
  • Add a short bio
  • Include any relevant links (website, social media, previous publications)
  • Submit images as JPEGs or PDFs
  • Keep the total file size under 5MB
  • Include your full contact details, including a phone number

FAQs

When will I hear back from you?
We review every submission we receive, but as a small team, we’re unable to respond to everyone individually. If we feel your work could be a good fit, we’ll be in touch, typically within 3–4 weeks.

Can I make multiple submissions?
Yes, but please send each submission separately.

Can you provide feedback on my submission?
Unfortunately, due to the number of submissions we receive, we are unable to provide personalised feedback to individual submissions.

Do you take submissions for adult fiction/non fiction?
We are not currently looking for adult fiction/non-fiction outside of graphic novels. Nor are we looking at poetry/anthology collections.
