Bio
Evie Barrow brings warmth, imagination, and joy to every children’s picture book she illustrates. Her work is full of personality and texture, celebrating the little imperfections that make hand-drawn art feel alive, inviting both children and adults to linger over each page.
She has illustrated thirteen published titles for publishers including Walker Books, Hardie Grant, Scribble, Affirm Press, and University of Queensland Press. Her books have earned notable recognition: I Saw Pete and Pete Saw Me (written by Maggie Hutchings) was selected for Victoria’s Prep Bag, reaching 65,000 children across 1,300 schools; Almost a Fish (written by Julianne Negri) won a Speech Pathology Australia Book of the Year Award; and several other titles have been shortlisted for Children’s Book Council of Australia awards.
Evie’s love of drawing and books began in childhood, split between Melbourne’s outer suburbs and a dusty rural town, where visits from the travelling library bus were a highlight. Now based in Prague, she enjoys travel, learning Czech, and slow walks spent cat-spotting, turtle-watching, and seeking inspiration along the way.
